HPE Cray Supercomputing GX5000 with 6th Gen AMD EPYC: 40% More Core Density, 81,920 Cores Per Rack, Direct Liquid Cooling at 40C for AI-Driven Science
内容摘要
HPE announced Cray Supercomputing GX5000 featuring 6th Gen AMD EPYC processors at AMD Advancing AI 2026. The GX5000 delivers 40% more core density than markets next densest offering with 81,920 CPU cores per rack, 25% less data center space, and 25% warmer facility water up to 40C through next-generation direct liquid cooling. Two blade options: GX350a Accelerated Blade combining one AMD EPYC with four AMD Instinct MI430X GPUs (112 GPUs per rack), and GX250 Compute Blade with eight AMD EPYC processors (40 nodes per rack). Early adopters include ORNL Discovery exascale system and HLRS Herder supercomputer (7x more powerful than current). HPE collaborating with AMD on Helios AI rack scale system delivering 260 TB/s scale-up bandwidth and 2.9 exaflops FP4 performance using UALoE networking standard.
